5-Days workshop on “Office Management Skills” - February

Professional Internship 2007 at Population Council
Population Council, Islamabad has offered Professional Internship
2007 for young graduates. Internship Development Mechanism is one of
the major activities implemented by the Population Council,
Islamabad, under its Individual Capacity Building project. The aim
of the internship programme is to enhance the capabilities and
skills of young graduates who are about to start their professional
careers. Under this activity young graduates (maximum age 26) having
an academic background in Social Sciences and keen to enter the
development sector are selected and placed in supervised programs at
reputed organizations for a period of three months. The
supervisors/mentors provide guidance to develop skills that will be
useful in their future professional lives.
Internship will provide hands on experience in the relevant field.
It will enhance knowledge and will develop skills in the specific
area. It will groom individuals to get ready to take up responsible
jobs. The past experience shows that individuals with internship in
relevant field are preferred in selection for various positions in
established and recognized organizations.
Population Council issues a contract to the successful candidate
directing them to report to his/her supervisor at the host
organization. Without a contract with Population Council no
candidates can claim any benefits and entitlements of Professional
Internship.
The interns will get a stipend of Rs. 10,000 (Rupee ten thousand)
per month for three months. At the end of the successful completion
of three months internship a certificate is issued jointly by the
Population Council and the host organization.

International Workshop on “Organizational Management for SMEs”

The Human Resource Development Center of Institute of Management
Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar will organize a 5-day International
Workshop on “Organizational Management for SMEs from February 19-23,
2007.
The course focuses on the challenges facing managers of SMEs with
regard to two major issues: organizational development and their
understanding of what is entailed in the task of management. The
topics selected for exploration stem from the facilitator’s
experience of working to build the management capacity of SMEs and
NGOs in Arfica since the early 1990s.
Prof. Martin O’Reilly will be the lead facilitator with assistant
facilitator Mr. Dany Kamaro.
